Ben H. Dykes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services for Ben Howard Dykes 83, of Cochran who died Wednesday October 21, 2020 will be held Saturday October 24, 2020 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Ben was born in Bleckley County the son of the late Marion Dykes and Mae Meadows Dykes. He was a graduate of Cochran High School Class of 1955. Ben was the first student to letter in all sports at Cochran High School. He was a graduate of Middle Georgia College, Georgia Southern College Class of 1963 and the University of Georgia were he received his Masters Degree. He started his Coaching and teaching Career in the fall of 1963 in the Cochran School system where he coached football and girls basketball. He was teacher, coach, principal at the Bleckley Middle School. He was a Board Member of the Georgia High School Association . He was a member and Deacon of Cochran First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister Marion D. Daniels and son in law Steven Brack. He is survived by his wife of 57 1/2 years Patricia B. Dykes of Cochran; children Benjy Dykes and Jill Brack both of Cochran; grandchildren Mollie Brack and Tyler ( Mary Ann ) Brack all of Cochran; sister Elaine (Ray) Mayo of Hawkinsville. Visitation will be immediately following the services in the chapel. In lieu of flowers please make donations to First Baptist Church of Cochran.
