Charles "Cat" Thompson, Jr.

Cochran - Charles A. "Cat" Thompson, Jr., 73 years old, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, in the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 2:00 PM, in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Services will be officiated by Dr. Lane Collins and Rev. Bob Price. Charles was born in Hawkinsville, GA and was the son of the late Charles Allison Thompson, Sr. and Esther Kiassen Thompson. Cat has lived in Cochran since 1960, and was a graduate of Cochran High School, Class of 1965. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in Vietnam. Following his service to our country, he attended Southern Polytechnic State University. Charles returned to Cochran, making his living as a farmer and the owner and operator of The Woods Golf Course. He attended and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Cary. Charles was also a former member of the Cochran-Bleckley Development Corporation. One of his contributions to groups and organizations in Cochran and surrounding communities was his support through golf fundraising tournaments. Survivors are his wife, Kay F. Thompson of Cochran; children, Lesley G. (Jerry) Higgs of Hawkinsville and Amy G. Dykes of Cochran; grandchildren, Jessica Renermana, Allison Renermana, Lila Dykes and Coleman Dykes; three great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Mary) Thompson of Leesburg and Bob Thompson of Cleveland, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
