Mr. Douglas Broughton Bozeman Sr.

December 12, 1924 - October 16, 2018

Douglas Broughton Bozeman Sr. died peacefully on October 16, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 93. He was the son of Bernard Ray Bozeman and Lucy Leota Manning Bozeman of Bleckley County, GA, and had 12 loving brothers and sisters. Douglas is survived by his three children, Judy Frey, Jacksonville, FL, Douglas Jr. (Margie) Bozeman, Kathleen, GA, and Tammy (Leo) Madrid, Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Raymond (Catherine) Frey, Jessica (Alex) Ostrowski, Joshua (Jennifer) Bozeman, Tara (Jon) Shorley, Tabitha Tripp; and eight great-grandchildren, Caroline Frey, Nicholas Ostrowski, Victoria Ostrowski, Will Frey, Ella Shorley, Sean Patrick Ostrowski, Eli Bozeman, and Emily Shorley. He is also survived by two of his brothers, Emmett Bozeman, and Dudley (Brenda) Bozeman, and one sister, Juanita Favoino. Douglas graduated from Cochran High School in 1942. He later married Dorothy Jean Fountain Bozeman and they made their home in Cochran, GA. They were happily married for over sixty-three and a half years until Dorothy passed away earlier this year. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Laura Ann Gore Bozeman, their daughter Patricia Ann Bozeman, and 9 of his brothers and sisters. Douglas lived his life in support of his family, the community, and our nation. After high school, he began an outstanding Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base where he started as an aircraft electrician and retired as a Section Chief more than 37 years later. He travelled all over the world in support of our military. Douglas was a dedicated and faithful Christian that generously supported and participated in worthy causes in his community and church. He attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the Charles Barrow Sunday School class. He enjoyed spending time with family, golf, working in the yard, square dancing with his wife, playing cards, and fishing. He also enjoyed flying and obtained his private pilot’s license. He later became a certified flight instructor. He was also the owner/operator of Bozeman TV and Repair for over 35 years. A memorial service is scheduled for November 10, 2018, at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, Cochran, GA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Douglas' life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church, 101 South Second Street, Cochran, Georgia 31014. The family would like to thank all who loved him and shared in his happiness throughout the years.
