Mrs. Elizabeth Pirkle Foster Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elizabeth Pirkle Foster, born January 29th, 1918, passed away on March 5th, 2013 at age 95. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W.H. Pirkle of Cochran. Mrs. Foster taught school for a few years in the 1940's in Bleckley County GA., and was later hired by the United States Bureau of Census in 1948 where she became a district supervisor. In 1950 she married Mr. Roy G. Foster and they lived in Wadley GA. In 1975 Mrs. Foster moved back to the Bleckley County area, contributing much of her time and talents to the community she loved. Elizabeth Foster was very active in the United Methodist Church. She taught the Adult Sunday School class at the First United Methodist Church in Cochran GA. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. Even in her eighties, she had the poise, intelligence, and wit to write a social column for the local newspaper. Mrs. Foster had a love for the Arts, and shared this love with others through her own paintings. She is survived by a sister, Lacy (George) Clark of Milledgeville, Ga., two nieces, Beth Meier of Milledgeville Ga., Connie (Lanny) Tillman of Jesup, GA and a nephew Bill Clark (DeDe) of Decatur Ga. Mrs. Foster is also survived by two great nieces, Jori Meir of Milledgeville, Ga., Leah Tillman of Jesup, Ga., and four great nephews, Gary (Holly) Meier of Newman Ga., Craig Clark, Andrew (Katie) Clark, and Daniel Clark all of Decatur, Ga. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Cochran, Ga. The family will be at the church for visitation at 10:30. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
