J. Wayne Sapp Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Jamerson Wayne Sapp, age 85, of Cochran passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Bleckley Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Cochran United Methodist Church. Interment will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Fisher Funeral Home in Cochran. He was born May 11, 1937, in Cary, to the late Osborne Jamerson “PerK” Sapp and Ruby Amerson Sapp, and was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Wayne Sapp and daughter, Shanna Marie Sapp; sisters, Frankye Dyal and Jo Presley. Wayne went to Cochran School’s and graduated in 1955 from Cochran High School. He was an outstanding athlete and played basketball on the 1954 – 1955 teams. They were region runner up in 1955 and Wayne was named to the all state team that year. Wayne was the owner operator of T&W service station. He was a charter member of the Bleckley Sportsman Club and president. He loved helping people and had a passion for Ford cars. He was a special man and an avid outdoorsman. He loved to share his passion for the outdoors with any and everyone who would listen. His greatest passion was our youth and sharing his passion of the outdoors with them. You could always find him giving his time to the Bleckley County Shooting team, Bleckley County Sportsman Club or the Public Fishing Lake in Bleckley County. Wayne worked tirelessly to lobby for the construction of that lake with the support of the Bleckley County Sportsman Club, Bubber Epps, and many more people. In 2017 the kid’s lake was named in his honor Wayne Sapp Lake. Mr. Wayne’s legacy will live on in the lives he touched. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Janice Marie Sapp; daughters, Bonny Faye Sapp Wesson of Macon and her husband Steve and Shelia Nobles of Eastman; son, David Keith Hutchison of Cochran; grandchildren, Jamerson & Justin Wesson and his wife Kate, Drew Bevis, Cody and Janice Nilson; great-grandchildren, Liam & Holly Wesson and Gabe Bevis; brother-in-law, Harold Presley; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family is at the Hutchinson residence at 152 Armstrong Road in Cochran.
