Jewell P Davis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Jewell Avis Peavy Davis, born on October 23, 1935, in Dodge County, Georgia to the late Joe Peavy and Lola Haynes Peavy, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Summerhill Senior Living in Perry surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, John and Carrie Bryan and her husband, William Perry “Brother” Davis. Mrs. Jewell grew up in Bleckley County, worked in the Bleckley County Food Services Department for over thirty years and was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to Summerhill Senior Living, in Perry, several years ago. While at Summerhill, Mrs. Jewell was named Miss Summerhill and in 2016 she competed in The Miss Georgia Health Care Association pageant where she was the fourth place winner. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Carolyn Smith of Swainsboro, Georgia and Elaine Sawyer and her husband Patrick of Kathleen, Georgia; 5 grandchildren, Mark Brown of Jessup, Jason Brown of Tallahassee, Florida, Danny Peacock and his wife Tonya of Dry Branch, Georgia, Logan Sawyer and Will Sawyer both of Kathleen, Georgia; 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cochran. Dr. Sam Tate and Reverend Jeff Thomas will officiate. Interment will be private in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the sanctuary.
