Funeral services for Mabel Thompson, 88, of Cochran, who died Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Serenity Place in Dublin, will be held Thursday, December 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Fisher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Laurens County, she was daughter of the late Herbert L. and Clemmie Lord Bridges and was the widow of the Rev. Virgil Thompson. They were married for 68 years. She had lived in Bleckley County most of her life and was retired from Jac Arts Label Factory. She was a member of Rowland Chapel Church of the Nazarene and was preceded in death by sons, Demmie Thompson, Earl Thompson and Randy Thompson and five grandchildren, Lacy, Keeli, Greg, Michael and Cason. Survivors include: sons, Glenn (Suellen) Thompson of Eastman, Doyle (Andrea) Thompson of Greenville, SC and Donnie (Mary) Thompson of Dexter; daughters, Beth Dickerson of Cochran, Betty Sue Thompson of Dublin and Brenda (Royce) Alligood of Dexter; 28 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren and siblings, Marguriette Aycock, Ruth Raffield, Doris Dixon, Gene Bridges, Mary Rowe and J.R. Bridges. The family will meet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service. Fisher Funeral Home of Cochran has charge of arrangements.
