Mr. Morris E. Floyd

Funeral services for Morris Edward Floyd, 84, of Cochran, who died Sunday, February 10, 2019 in St. Petersburg, Florida will be held Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Elders Franklin Bryant and Stephen Dyer will officiate. Mr. Floyd was born in Cochran, Georgia, the son of the late Arthur E. and Trudye McDaniel Floyd and was the widower of Quinelle Couey Floyd. He was a graduate of Cochran High School's Class of 1952 and attended Middle Georgia College and was a graduate of the Class of 1954. Mr. Morris served his country in the U.S. Army doing a tour in Germany. After serving in the army, Morris returned to Bleckley county and became a highly respected and well-known farmer. He loved to grow Bonsai Trees, daylillies and camellias in his spare time. Mr. Floyd attended both Trail Branch and Sweet Home Primitive Baptist Churches. He was a long-standing member of the Bleckley County Farm Bureau. He is survived by: daughter, Tonya (Alexis) Floyd-Nye of St. Petersburg, Fl; sister, Willodean F. Jones of Cochran; brother, Wayne (Jenny) Floyd of Cochran; several nieces and nephews. The family will meet friends Thursday from 2:00 PM until time for the service in the chapel. The family may be contacted at the residence of Wayne and Jenny Floyd on Limestone Rd. Cochran.
