Funeral services for Norris Edward (Ned) Dow, 73, who passed away at Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia, from COVID-19 related issues, on Monday, January 4, 2021, will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 2 PM, in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. John Cadwell officiating. Ned was born on June 16, 1947, in Malden, Massachusetts, to Norris Elden and Barbara (Parks) Dow. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Scott Edward Dow; grandson, Michael Scott Dow; and former wives, Donna Atwood and Lynne Williams. He was a loving husband to his wife of 30 years, Hope Sinyard Dow of Cochran, GA; daughters, Cindi A. Roloson of Belvidere, NJ, Wendi E. (Ron) DenBleyker of Easton, PA, Tammi L. Gonzalez of Budd Lake, NJ, and two bonus children, Allison L. (John) Lanneau of Centerville, GA, and Joel C. (Tiffany) Foskey of Cochran, GA. He was a Grandpa, Papa, and Opa to Josh, Daniel, Matthew, Kevin, Tre, Kyler, Alicia, Brielle, Blayne, Julia, Jacob, Andrew, Addison and Daxton. He also has 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Steven (Sue) Dow of New Carlisle, OH, and Jeff (Charlotte) Dow of Clearwater, FL; sister, Susan (Dan) Carlson of Hudson, FL; brother-in-law, Donald W. (Starlette) Sinyard, Sr. of Hawkinsville, GA; sister-in-law, Debra A. Hartley of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving cat, Miss Muffet. Ned was a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School, Class of 1965, in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. He had a varied career working and living in at least 8 states with the FAA, ITT, McDonnell Douglas, and Boeing. While working with McDonnell Douglas, he attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran and obtained an associates degree in nursing in 1995, and his BSN from Georgia College and State University in 2005. He went on to work at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Taylor Regional Hospital, and ended his career as the lab and testing coordinator for the nursing department at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. He loved to read, watch Patriots football, Red Sox baseball, formerly flew remote controlled planes, and loved to golf. Ned volunteered for 2 years at Camp Little Shot (Diabetes Camp) in Eatonton, GA. His latest passion was the Bleckley County Fire Department where he served as the Porter Road Fire Station Captain. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215, for the 50 year medalist program in memory of Norris E. (Ned) Dow, who had Type 1 diabetes for 66 years. www.joslin.org Burial will immediately following in Browndale Cemetery in Hawkinville, GA.
