Funeral services for Mrs. Quinelle Couey Floyd, 78, of Cochran, who died at her residence Sunday, July 7, 2013, will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cochran. Mrs. Floyd was born in Laurens County, the daughter of the late Horrie Guyton and Frances Inez Holder Couey. She lived in Bleckley County for the past 48 years. She was a graduate of Lowery High School in Laurens County and Savannah Business School. She was a member of White Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Laurens County and attended Primitive Baptist Churches in the area. She was the office manager for Dr. John Bell, of Dublin, for 42 years. She was a very avid gardener specializing with bonsai plants. She was preceeded in death by three sisters; Marie Couey Ward, Margaret Couey Robertson and Mae Couey Thaggard; two brothers, Carlos Couey and James Hansel Couey. Survivors include: husband, Morris Floyd, Cochran; daughter, Tonya Floyd, St. Petersburg, FL; special friend, Jenna Shiver of St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters, Blanche Couey Wood, Laurens County and Maudell Couey (Billy) Hutcheson, Laurens County; brother, Benjamin Franklin (Dolores) Couey, Warner Robins. Family will meet friends Wednesday night at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and the family will be at the Floyd residence, Barlow Road, Cochran.
