Funeral services for William Anthony "Tony" Cooper, 59, of Cochran, who died Monday, September 2, 2013 at his residence, after a long battle with lung cancer, will be held Thursday, August 5, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper was born in Augusta, GA, attended school in Jones County, graduating in 1972 from Cochran High School. He attended Middle Georgia College and Florence State College and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union #72 in Atlanta for 30 years. Survivors include: wife of 37 years, Diane Towles Cooper; daughters, Jennifer (Dustin) Schales of Chesterfield, NJ, Tara (Josh) Dean, Perry; son, Tyler Cooper, Lizella; grandchildren, Caden Schales, Abby and Emily Dean; father, Billy and wife Fay Cooper of Lizella; brothers Eddie (Eleanor) Johnson and nephew Dustin of Hortense, Ronnie Cooper, Jones County; Timmy Cooper, Lizella; sister Amanda Cooper and nieces Rebecca and Isabella; stepsister, Judy (George) Wehrenberg & Jeremy of Kathleen; stepbrother Glenn (Lisa) Coody, Macon. Longtime friends Steve and Audrey Brown, Eryn (Hunter) Prim and Janna. Family will meet friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The family may be contacted at the residence.
