August 9, 1927 - February 28, 2014
William Robert Howell, 86, passed away February 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and his "pretty woman," who was the love of his life for over 60 years. He had lived in Bleckley County all of his life on the family farm, and he never wanted to be anywhere else. He began farming with his Dad when he was 14 years old and continued farming the rest of his life for over 70 years. He drove a school bus for Bleckley County for almost 27 years and helped his wife deliver the Macon Telegraph for over 16 years. He never backed away from work and was a loving provider for his family. He loved music, baseball, and basketball, and he coached a softball men's team for several years. He loved growing cotton and planting with his John Deere tractors. He valued education and enjoyed helping and supporting academics and basketball while a huge Twiggs Academy Trojan fan. William was predeceased by his parents William James Howell and Dollie Mae Phillips Howell, his brothers and sisters – Freeman Howell, Maudie Howell Davis, Clora Howell Crutchfield, Benard Howell, Bernard Howell, Rosa Howell Francis, baby Ruby Howell, and another little baby. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, he will be deeply missed by the family that respected and loved him so much – his wife Annie Belle Lucas Howell of Danville; his sons and daughters Robert Howell of Cochran, Randy Howell, Connie Howell, and Bonnie Belle of Danville; his grandchildren Matt Howell, Mark Howell, Lucas Howell, Miranda Howell, and Logan Nobles; his great-grandchildren Caroline Howell, J.K. Howell, Turner Howell, and Moxley Howell. He adored his wife and was extremely proud of his family. His family witnessed a man that was calm, patient, loving, honest, hard-working, quiet, and a gentle spirit who depended on the Lord to guide his daily works. He treated all he met with kindness and respect and never ever complained about anything. He saw the good in everyone and in everything. He always said not to worry because everything was going to be all right, and that the Lord would take care of everything. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and attended Cool Springs Primitive Baptist church during his life. William battled lymphoma nine years ago but became cancer free about five years ago. The family would like to give many thanks to those who helped to keep him healthy – Dr. Burns, Dr. Ellis Evans, Dr. Harrison and staff, the 9th floor Medical Center nurses, and the staff at the Central Georgia Cancer Center (especially nurses Lori and Debra), and Dr. Ayoub and staff at the Medical Center. Visitation will be held at Fisher Funeral Home in Cochran from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
